I once re-labelled a CB fascia with individual letter transfers as the rig had been 'changed' (it took ages). The lettering didn't last though as it wasn't as resilient as the original wording. Might be best to spray the finished fascia with clear matte varnish or lacquer to protect the lettering (that's assuming you're stripping the rig down).
Not sure if you can get whole words such as volume and squelch etc. If you can it would be from the States or Europe and not likely to be from this country.

I've done it with old record players and radios by printing them off in "mirror image" onto transfer paper with a laser printer and then iron them onto the right position once you have the sizing right. Much in the same way of producing pcb's. It looks that bit better than stickers and water slide decals, especially once you have gotten the hang of it

hi Sparky
using a laser printer if you reverse print the text onto light paper(turn the print density up to max) then place over where you want it
then steal some of your wife's acetone nail varnish remover and wet the back side of the paper it will transfer the print onto the surface
be careful some plastics don't like acetone test it first on something else !
its quick and dirty but it works

Seconded, I have used these and they are fantastic, cheap and excellent quality.
I will not be commanded, I will not be controlled.
n+1 the formula for working out how many radios you need with n being the current amount.
