Does anyone know the proper name of the tiny coax cable used in radio's that goes from one bit of the circuit board to another bit of the circuit board?
The stuff you used to get loads of in old cybernet CB's
Real small almost like a laptop Wifi coax but with an inner and outer core as opposed to the laptop crap thats only one core.
I need some to add an external antenna socket to a crap DAB radio but have tried searching for everything and can't find the stuff.
I have googled
Miniature coax
Ultra miniature Coax
Radio circuit coax
PCB coax
WiFi Coax
RF Coax
And loads more but cant find anything resembling what I want.
I will add a picture if I can find one of what I want, used to be loads of the stuff in older radio equipment.
The coax arrowed in the picture below.
The stuff in the picture looks bigger than it actually is and is in my panasonic DR28 but it's actually only got a diameter no larger than 3mm
Whats that coax called?

It looks like Ultra satellite but way thinner. What is the braid? Aluminium or copper?

my friend grafter, seems like you are using a very offensive tone in the reply.

Maybe, but if it has alloy as well as braid it might be 70ohm although I can't imagine why they'd use it in a radio like that. I use the 75 ohm sat line for ladders antennas, it has an all alloy ( silver) braid and a cover of pure alloy too. Easy enough to work with and they do make ultra thin sizes.....just guessing though.

It's a similar size to RG174, which I use for the innards of my RF projects.

Re: Whats that coax called?
Not sure what its composed of think its some sort of silver coloured metal if you have ever been in an old cybernet rig like a Ham jumbo, Rotel, York etc you'll know the stuff Amstrad used to like using loads of it and if I remember right the Amstrad 901 had lots of it connecting one bit of circuit to another bit.
I will have a look at the RG174 thanks for that suggestion

Re: Whats that coax called?
OK the RG174 looks about right @ 2.8mm diameter but is there any 75 Ohm equivalent its just my coax from the antenna to where the radio will be is 75 ohm TV coax and I would like to keep the innards from the new ext antenna socket to the circuit run the same ohms rating.
Looks perfect size though and I only need about a 3" length
