Anyone got a good reliable design guide for Mag loop antennae?
I've got variable caps, copper tube (15mm) and a fair amount of patience before I screw it all up and say sod it before leaving it out for the local scrap metal thieves to take away.
*edit* Oh, and I've also got a pile of 25mm wide, 2mm thick aluminium in metre lengths, how useable would that be?

Re: Mag Loop
Are you going the whole hog and using a stepper motor and gearbox to remotely tune it?
This site looks a good starter: http://www.alexloop.com/artigo32a.html
Watch the video, great accent - almost like Borat "Very low standing wave relation"

Re: Mag Loop
If I make it work then I'll do either stepper or servo tuning, until then it'll be manual/PROLIANT wrote:Are you going the whole hog and using a stepper motor and gearbox to remotely tune it?
I found that earlier, not had the bandwidth to watch the video off a mibile but I will later, some of the English hints at an interesting accent but the tech material there looks pretty good.PROLIANT wrote: This site looks a good starter: http://www.alexloop.com/artigo32a.html

Re: Mag Loop
what frequencies are you wanting to make one for ???
i made one with a band width of around 50khz centred around 27.025..
works great, just a shame the coax length alters the SWR.

I'm only really interested in 11m, did you use a fixed capacitor or variable?bigpimp347 wrote:what frequencies are you wanting to make one for ???
