Hiya.
I'm about to self build an 11m, centre fed, dipole for my first shot at hill-topping.
I've seen designs on line and watched a few great videos, but I wondered if some one could clarify something as I cannot find mention of it.
Here's the question. When fitting the antenna onto my 7 meter vertically mounted pole, does it matter which length of the antenna from the centre point of the dipole, is at the top / and/or at the bottom of the pole?
Obviously one side of the antenna is connected to the core of the coax via the centre piece, and the other length of the antenna is connected to the sheath of the coax cable. So does it matter which way up i mount them on the pole when setting up?
Thanks in anticipation.
Matt

RF does not follow the path of positives as DC current does so both side will be both positive and negative as this is a form of AC we are dealing with.
Simple answer it does not make any difference!

Do not believe everything that is in black and white.

Re: Home made 11m dipole.
My apologies but I now have a further question I wondered if you could help me with.
The antenna I'm building will be mounted on a fibre glass pole. The guy rope system I want to use to keep the pole vertical is based on a small metallic ring that sits about 3 meters up the pole that the guys attach to.
The question is, will a metallic ring affect the antenna? Should I make the equivalent in plastic as the antenna passes right through the ring?
Thanks.

Yes it will.Hawk657 wrote:will a metallic ring affect the antenna?
Will you notice or will it make any kind of a difference that you can measure?
Almost certainly not.
