yes I was well impressed....also I think the noise has either gone or been reduced by 80/90 %....
can't wait to try it against a vertical side by side...metaphorically....
the receive on other bands is great too....the "local 6 metre repeater " is 40+
and if I had used black shelf brackets it would have been low profile....
apart from the size which I can maybe trim.......making it more of a diamond shape
(great to experiment)
can,t think of a down side.......
don,t think I ,ll ever get a Qsk from Oz again on 12/15 watts ...

I will post some photos shortly... I,m making a lighter ...portable...."Bambi" type
with a nice set of carp poles now I know it works well...
thanks for the post....

Hi

I must admit I made a loop antenna for 17m a few weeks back and had it in the worst place possible 1m from the ground at base against the side of my house and instantly on 4w while trying to trim it to right length had a QSO into Croatia on psk31. Haven.t had a chance yet but want to hoist it up a 12m pole in open space and see what it does with decent propagation. Only went for 17m cos that about the length of the wire I had liing around. Used a 4:1 balun.

regards

Eddy

well apart from a 1/1 swr at ground level and 1.8 at 10 feet....it works a dream...
took out the metal shelf brackets now and use duct tape to firm up the cross piece could use
two thick tie wraps...!!
but solid enuf for light winds
its about a 4/6 main pop together for portable...
hope photo works

It looks great and seems to be working very well for you.
To answer the question you asked early in the thread, yes, to move the low SWR point further up the band shorten the overall length of your loop.

Great Job!

yup will do....cheers for that...
I,m now working on a bazooka for the next one.I have 50 ohm but I,m wondering if I can
use up the rest of my 75 ohm up needs the velocity factor of the 75 ohm for that...
I will be able to get the bazooka higher and I,m wondering if I can have 80% of the antenna
horizontal and two 10% dangling !?!?!?!
hmmmmmmm !?!

let's see..

Re wired the loop yesterday with some proper
"antenna wire" 5quid for 50 meters...measured
it properly and swr was lowest at 27.245...spot
on for me as i do a little data there...
Should have a little less wind resistance for winter
and can go a little higher too 65ft to tip on max...

Sorry to any spuggies in advance
May try a different feed point at some
Point but I,m not too convinced its
necessary

antenna now trimmed with antenna analyser, so looking to fit all parts
tightly and waterproof..
swr moved a little from head height to 30 ft so take note...
hoping to replace canes section with threaded tent poles...!
improving strength and lightening a few grams !!!
