Re: Diode ID?
They look more like germanium point-contact diodes to me.

Re: Diode ID?
Thanks for the input Chris. I think Andys hit it on the head. I'm going with 1N60P and calling them bagged. I'm clueless with old diodes, look pretty though, heh. Thanks Andy.

Re: Diode ID?
You're welcome. I spotted the little 'whisker' of wire and realised they must be point-contact, and AFAIK there aren't any silicon pc ones.

Re: Diode ID?
I have see these as well, one or two a long time ago on an old AM radio board, and as part of the components of an old kids toy electronics set I has years ago. Pretty sure they are germanium diodes, like Andy said.

Pretty little things.
I've always been hugely attracted to diodes.

Re: Diode ID?
One of those plus a coil with lots of turn will make a great little crystal set. When I was at boarding school I used to make such sets and sell them to classmates. We used the bedspring as antennae and tuned the coil to hear radio Luxembourg Top Twenty! headset was ex-WD.
Even if the voices on my head aren't real, they do have some pretty good ideas

Re: Diode ID?
I used to be very fond of diodes when I first started wielding a soldering iron and blowing things up in about 1972. I think it was because unlike most other components, with the obvious exception of valves, you could actually see what was inside them

Re: Diode ID?
Yep; a bit of the mystery revealed.
My pursuit of the magic by destroying other components to investigate the pixie dust only ever resulted in black powder (not the good kind!) and brown goo (also not the good kind!!)
