Antenna Wire, Single Core or Twisted.

Post by dingbat »

Currently, I've got the Bug into making home made antennas for the loft and was wondering for the, "Wire Ones", would it be best to use "Single Core" or "Twisted" as Twisted has more surface area???

Multistrand wire tends to break less often than solid copper cable, beyond that I never really notice any difference regarding the two.

There's no difference in performance between the two. As darkone states stranded wire suffers less from fatigue and is easier to work with indoors.

Cheers for the replies. I have some Multi-Strand Guy-Wire so I'll give that a go.
