fishing poles
I am thinking of putting up a trapped dipole of approx 54 feet in length.
Fixing at the house end of the garden is not a problem but at the other end there is only a perimeter fence and i am wondereing wheter i could use a 7-8m fishing pole to support the dipole or will it bend too much.
I know that some people use a alloy pole with a fishing pole on top.
Opinions and suggestions please gentleman and ladies if present
regards

Re: fishing poles
You can use one but not all of it. You may only be able to use it half the pole as it will become too bendy.

Re: fishing poles
A full length fishing pole will bend a lot, whether it is too much depends on how you construct your dipole, but with it being trapped I would venture that the fishing pole isn't up to the job. Why not invest in a 20' scaffold pole, a good guy rope, and some isolators, that should do the trick.

or off-set it from the end of the garden and use a guy line to the perimiter fence. :-)

Re: fishing poles
That where my thinking was going, getting a 10m pole for example but only using 6-7m of it.fez wrote:You can use one but not all of it. You may only be able to use it half the pole as it will become too bendy.
Appreciate yours and others input
I need to get the aerial at approx 25m so maybe an alloy pole and a fishing pole on top?
I have a hustler vertical which i could use at ground level but i am in two minds about it and the need to for ground radials in the small area i have to work in.
I expect i will put both of them up and see how i get on.
cheers

Re: fishing poles
Ooh nice Fez, not seen those before.
Im using about 5 meters of a 10m pole for my inverted L and its pretty solid. You can tape the joints too if you plan on leafing it up for any length of time. The other 5 meters is currently holding the middle of it up until i can get up on the roof and fix up a pulley to the chimney to putt it up proper.
