Ground Terminal

Anyone advise on this for me, during a discussion at the club it was brought up about putting a ground terminal for the radio, Can anyone tell me if it's necessary to do this :problem:

No, its a bad idea spouted by know alls. If its any run at all it will become a counterpoise and mess your antenna up, you may get hums on TX and if your PSU is a switch mode with the -ve and earth connected (some are) you will even compromise your house protection.

Only place and time to earth your radio is if your out in the field on a table with the grass a foot below.

Earthing aerials across baluns or on external ATU's - yes, but thats different.
