Nice work Andy, the gizzards of a Welbrook aren't that high tech anyway, I think you may well have improved on the original.
I fancy something like that for my Navtex stand-alone set.

Went for the Watson in the end. Only had a brief play so far, seems pretty good. Time will tell.

I use a homebrew active loop for HF. Like a welbrook but cheaper because i'm tight.
I've tried it in the loft on a rotator and at 5' high in the garden. No real difference in performance noticed.
