roof space hf antenna
hi, guys got an old b40d boat anchor receiver. thinking about putting a roof space antenna in for it. just wondering has anyone ever used one before for receive an what's the best way to set it up. was thinking 2 core then split it either side down full lengh of the roof space. or would it be better to chris cross it all directions. any help would be great.. thanks

Have you seen this thread?

Chap built a loft loop for TX but it should be good for RX too.

Re: roof space hf antenna
Before I moved earlier this year, I had a multiband trapped dipole in the loft, 80m - 6m.
Worked OK for me, tx and rx. Only problems were tge SSB portion of 80m wiped out by the smoke alarms and I couldn't tx at high power without the poltergeists visiting.
Had mine rigged up in a sort-of inverted V from the apex, down as far as it would go into the two corners on that side then each leg kind of zig-zagged along its own side of the eaves until the copper ran out.
Put off setting it up for ages as I thought it would be pants. I'm sure it was compared to many set ups, but it easily pulled in signals from the US to Russia and sent them right back again without batting an eyelid.

66ft split each leg to 33ft and make it fit in your loft. 40-10m with tuner.
Get it as high as you can then one leg run it down the rafters and back up the next one etc, The other leg the same but keep them as far apart as you can.
My Windom in the loft is like this and TX just fine to Australia on 20m
