Pirate Broadcaster on the air now

Post by rogerbeep »

6286 khz.
Different style of music, old german pop (ompa ompa) and others.
Drunk guy refering to the "Belgian Scrapman" and others - quite amusing! :D
A mix of English and Belgian(?) language. For those who do not have equipment for receiving the shortwave you can listen at websdr.org.

EDIT: The transmission stops occationally, but signal is quite stable at 9+50dB up here.

Getting a couple around that area.
6.265 - 'Wizard radio, pirate radio at its best' Their words not mine.
6.283 - English / Spanish (Mexican?) language narrator crashing the awful music all the time, sounds drunk. Think its the same one as you mention. Then occasionally stops and starts, almost as if they are trying to find the right cassette to put on.
6.293 - playing Madonna, Abba, etc no DJ -- Edit, just voiced over an ID as Focus International

This guy presents himself as "Johnny Tobacco", every now and then he send greetings to his friends (by their first name) all over Europe.
It a well grown up man, sitting in his shack playing music at 10khz bandwith.

Not exactly well organised I would say, but when you take the weekday and time into account he is doing really well.
He just played a Norwegian song that my Grandfather used to play at his accordion when I was a kid! Nice memories! LOL!

Edit: If you use the Dutch SDR-receiver tune to 6282.
Edit2: Yep Tigersaw, the second "spot" on your list is the right one.

Yep - just ID himself as Johnny Tabacco radio just before playing Nancy Sinatra

Signal is so strong I'm using the attenuator to keep it below +60 and overloading.
He must be using SDR as he is monitoring his own signal and reporting it.
He does sound like he has a Dutch accent.

Now he's played the same record twice... think Its time I went to bed!

Edit - he's just said he's in Holland

He is trying to trick out the listeners by telling that he is sitting different places. Within the last 5 minutes he wa sending from a desert in the US, a minute a go he said "here in Holland".
Despite the audio quality this guy make a funny performance at times.

Johnny Tobacco on about 6282 early this morning, (Sunday). Calling himself Abu Dhabi. I taped about 6 minutes of his show. Quite Entertaining. Late though. I found someone called Johnny Tobacco on Facebook, messaged him, but no reply so far. Mike in Rhyl UK.
