Yes that's an impressive catch. I've yet to get anything transatlantic but it's just a matter of time. Manx radio comes in strong on 1368 and I can partially null radio Norfolk on 855 kHz and hear a foriegn station. I've noticed there are a lot of Spanish stations around these last few nights.

One more question. I've noticed that 5 live on 693 affects the station im trying to Dx on 684. In otherwords I can hear faint noise interference of the audio although it is not clear enough to understand. Is this what is known as MW splatter ? Is there any way I can reduce this? I've played about with the AM sync which appears to improve the situation.

Yes that is known as splatter.
What you can do to minimize is slightly detune your radio away from 693k to minimize.
This would mean listening on 683k or 682k (your AM sync would have to be off on your radio though).
Another thing is if you have an AM loop antenna, rotate it, that will also help to null 693k, but you may find that you cannot elimininate it completely, depending on your location, distance from transmitter, radiated power, etc.

More expensive radios, have better filters and splatter can be reduced and sometimes eliminated completely.

One more thing to try is to listen to 684k on LSB, this may help to pull in 684k you will find USB worse as its the closer sideband to 693k.

I had the same Sony 7600 once, best DX was CYJQ on 930k Am with narrow filter, actually received in Summer (late July 1993 about 0230GMT).
Transatlantic DX is possible most of year, though its best in Winter.
Hope that helps.

Thanks that does help. I think I'm in a strong signal location. Anyway I will try detuning by 1 kHz and try lsb. It's encouraging to know you've pulled in Transatlantic Dx on the 7600 even if it was using narrower filters. Cheers.

Yes Manx radio is blasting in stronger than usual. Interestingly there is alot of co- channeling. At times I've heard foreign stations behind radio Norfolk on 855 kHz and 5 live on 693 kHz. Have you picked up anything from Russia on MW?

Thanks. I've found that model on eBay for roughly £8.00 plus pp from Hong Kong. Theres also a tg34. I'm reading reviews at the momment. The only thing that concerns me is that I live in a steel framed building so I can't guarantee that an indoor loop will improve the internal ferrite reception. Still I could always place it by a window.

Edit : the eBay one is a tecsun an200. Is tecsun the Asian name for Eton?

And it works superbly! Pulling in the weak Dutch pirates around 1629-1647 kHz. Awesome.
