Re: Cardiff Airport UHF
Isnt this the service that relays air movements to airport ground staff who will be listening on their UHF handies? I suppose the fact that the 2 airports are almost 30 miles apart means that there is not much chance of interfering with each other - most likely using different ctcss or dcs as well (well down in the noise here).
If you look at the profiler tool output (Cardiff airport on left and Bristol Airport on right) Bristol has a fair bit of elevation in its favour mind you:

Re: Cardiff Airport UHF
That'll be for GMC (Ground movements) - pushback tugs will have UHF mobiles like GM360. Some airports only use VHF AM for ground movements and some transpond / cross patch onto UHF as well.
The MPT system is for the airport authority and for ground handling companies like Menzies, Aviator, etc who will use the trunk radios to despatch flights, refuel, deal with passenger stuff etc.

Re: Cardiff Airport UHF
Some of the Heathrow and Gatwick Ground movements are on the same frequencies with different CTCSS tones

Re: Cardiff Airport UHF
That's an interesting graphic and explains exactly why from Cardiff west I can hear everything at Bristol including fire trucks, Ops vehicles and taxiing aircraft but I hear nothing from Cardiff Rhoose.
