HEADS UP - Red Arrows Friday 4th July

Post by stu »

Heres the latest NOTAMS for the Reds who are overflying the Queen Elizabeth naming ceremony on Friday 4th - looks like they are flying up direct from Scampton and overflying Rosyth before landing to refuel at Leuchars. Heading back the same day. Hopefully those of you who don't live within the vicinity of Rosyth will at least get a chance to see them, or indeed hear them on 243.450, as they transit.

And right on time the Reds appeared on finals to R26 at RAF Leuchars. Approached in Diamond nine formation, run in and break alternate left and right hand circuits before recovering in single file. A show in itself. Departed later as per NOTAM after fuel stop. Weather wasn't too clever but it did dry up for a while, only 3 of us made the trek out via the headland to the R26 approach. I don't know how many were at the other end.

Thanks again for the heads up Stu.

My pleasure.

That must be the standard Reds approach for landing - they did the same at EDI last weekend. Very impressive it was too !
