A couple of reports have just come through NOTAMS for Air Displays over Leuchars and Edinburgh on the evening of Friday 9th May as follows:

1) H1248/14: Air display will take place NEW

The Edinburgh display is a bit of a mystery. Theres no exact location and I'm guessing that the BBMF aren't likely to be involved as it appears to include aerobatics as well although it does seem a bit coincidental to have the 2 so close together.

Does anyone have info on these?

I'll probably head up the hill with camera for 7:20pm this Friday weather depending.See what it is! I can't think off hand of any events or event celebrations,openings etc which would be marked by a show of aerobatics!!

Elliot - Looks like youve hit the nail on the head - excellent work.

Now - can we work out whats displaying?? I bet theres a Merlin and a Lynx at the very least and given that the RNAS merged with the RFC to form the RAF I wonder if the BBMF will do a flypast as well??

Camera to point to the general direction of Leith. Just a shame we don't have Harriers on the go anymore.

My Met Office app is showing clear skies over Edinburgh from 1900 until 2200 tonight. Its generally quite reliable.

On a separate note - does anyone have any idea what freq they might use for the display? Im assuming the a/c will be in contact with locally sited organisers

BBMF are always on time, they normally ring to say they have left the ground. They should tx the local airport radar if they are in the airports zone.
