Bournemouth Air Show this coming weekend

Post by HandyRadio » 27 Aug 2013, 20:11

Hi guys

This is the first time I post under the airband discussion so hello everyone.

I'm planning to visit the Bournemouth air festival this year with my scanner (well a yaesu vx7r radio but pretty good as a scanner) so would like to know which are the best frequencies for the air show.

I went to Cosford air show a few years ago with my Maycom 108 but only got the tower frequency there.

Any suggestion is appreciated. :)

Last year the display frequency was 121.175.

I'm assuming it'll be the same this year.

Obviously you have the Bournemouth Airport frequencies too...

Approach/Radar - 119.475
Radar - 118.65
Tower - 125.6
ATIS - 133.725

Thank you! I'll take Solent radar freq as well just in case. Last time I flew down to Bournemouth I changed to B'mouth Radar just after Goodwood tower. Then another time when I was circling the Isle of Wight I had Solent on for basic service.

Are you coming as well?

Best

compare the list here: http://bournemouthair.co.uk/aircraft/

to: http://www.2e0jps.com/radio/airband/airshows/

People like the Red Arrows, blades and BBMF have their own frequencies.

I missed Cosford and Fairford this year which I normally go to. Let's hope the cloud base is high enough for some decent display.

Best.

Just Heard the red arrows on 121.175am from about 62miles away ,just to confirm it sounds like 121.175 is the display freq (flight control) at bournemouth air show.Red arrows while displaying would be on 243.450

243.450 worked great when they were displaying and the loud speaker did broadcast some of their inter-cockpit communications. I've been on 121.175 all weekend and some display teams are just using that one including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Some flights (based at Bournemouth International Airport) were handed straight over to 125.6 tower freq after display.

Great weekend of air displays and cheers for sharing the frequencies.
