While amusing, it's not true. There's also a misprint in the title which says "overhead" rather than "overheard",

Reminds me of one this ship urban legend that's been around the Internet for years:

Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a Collision.

Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States' Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels. I demand that YOU change your course 15 degrees north, that's one five degrees north, or countermeasures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

They are fun to read but there are quite a few variants of this sort of thing going about.
I have probably read 3 different variants of a story about SR71 pilots winding commercial pilots up on atc freqs with bragging rights regarding flight level and airspeed lol.
It`s possible there might be an element of truth in some of these stories but they tend to get embellished over time to make a better story.
True or not, they do make amusing reading though :)

I think the SR-71 one is true though, it's in the book "Sled Driver".

Also unlikely because times have changed.
British Airways happily fly to Buenos Aires, and Aerolineas Argentinas used to fly regularly to Heathrow, and I daresay would be welcome to do so again.

There's no 'war' any more. They just 'mither' and play the 'Malvinas Card' to shift attention from internal situations and corruption scandals. like the Spanish do with Gib. :D

Yes four Eurofighters down there now, but I assumed the report was meant to be an old one that's "only just" doing the rounds now.

Galtieri used the same diversionary tactics as Argentina and Spain are now doing to remove attention from their failing economies.

Yeah. Most modern democratic Argentinians couldn't give a toss about the Falklands. They are ''some desolate islands 500 miles away off our frozen South coast - lots of penguins, some fish, maybe some oil which our stupid government refused to share 50/50 with the British when they offered''. They belong to an old time of Galtieri, extreme right-wing politics and 'the disappeared'. People who were hog-tied and kicked out of planes over the South Atlantic.

Argentina came within an ace of becoming a part of our old empire, and I have had an Argentinian rugby fan say to my face '' If we had been British, then we would be like Australia is now''.

Don't believe in all the diversionary right-wing bluster ... we actually have many old friends there.

Yeah, thats the one. Just googled it and the quote I found is the more believable one of all the other stories I read about this.
Might get the book, it looks an interesting read :)
