DCS Detector and Squelch Plugin. (I don't quite get this yet because in my Baofeng UV5R+ the DCS is in numbers like D365I, D026N etc etc and I was hoping that this Plugin would give me the codes like in my Baofeng so that I can listen to DMR on my baofeng but this plugin lists codes in the following kind of format DCS+ XXX XXX XXX, DCS- XXX XXX XXX so how would you translate that, to the stuff that the
Baofeng can use like D365I, D026N etc etc I will never know)
DSD+ Plugin.
So what other Plugins do you all recommend?
I do quite like the idea of the shortwave radio name plugin but need to build this kit first.
And if anyone knows how to convert the codes that the DCS Decoder plugin gives you so you can use them in the Baofeng UV5R+ I would appreciate a bit of help on that one please.

DCS and CTCSS on receive are not really needed because they just block other signals on the same frequency. The stations can still be heard.
I run all my gear with tones on TX only if I need them to access repeaters.

DCS and CTCSS on receive can be crucial to identifying each user on a given frequency, during the recent solar maximum with good low VHF conditions to the US both systems proved invaluable for IDing the user because some channels had five or six different companies on them.
my friend grafter, seems like you are using a very offensive tone in the reply.
Thanks Oldman that is very interesting about the ID stuff.
Grafter I don't seem to be able to hear the voices on my baofeng UV5R+ at all I just hear the constant DMR farting noises and no voices but I can hear the voices on the same frequency on my RTL-SDR with DSD+ running so I thought it was something to do with the Receive DCS Codes needing to be put into my Baofeng
DCS is just a fancier CTCSS, it just opens the squelch. The transmitted audio is still analog. What you are monitoring is DMR, which your UV-5R cannot decode no matter what settings you put in, as its an analog FM radio only.

Oh I get it I thought with fancy stuff in it like CTCSS and DCS that it was a Digital Capable Radio.
Is there a Baofeng that is also DMR capable?

Apparently the revised versions are due to be full T2.
Like most Bumfeng products, I suspect it won't be brilliant (and I prefer to make my own mind up about that than trust the interweb) but measured against the price it'll probably be excellent. It's half the price of the not especially brilliant Hytera, and recent history shows us that Bumfeng prices fall quickly, and revised updated versions arrive equally quickly.
