Re: FunCube Pro questions
one good turn deserves another mate, you helped me decide on the funcube pro + which really has re-ignited my interest in radio.
yeah its pretty good ain't it, and its not done yet, loads more features to add.
i leave the server running all the time, i let mates log into it when i'm not using it, they can do their own rig checks that way , one mate uses my antenna for rx when he's dxing if his is too noisy.
Add a virtual audio cable as we were discussing further up this thread and you can pipe audio into DM780 for data decoding but its a bit clunky if you change frequencies having to switch between screens, when the data part is added to sdr radio v2 it should be a sweet thing to use.

Re: FunCube Pro questions
Thanks, and I am so glad you are happy with it
Like wise with me, the pro+ really has got me back into SW/HF radio. The Degen was average but worked, the Yupi was a fairly decent performer but not very nice for general searching through. The Pro+ is in a totally different league performance wise and I am picking so much more up now.

Re: FunCube Pro questions
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with the Pro+.
every so often there is a click on the audio, a line appears all the way across the waterfall and the signal drops slightly and then gradually builds back up again.
I would think that it is probably picking up some sort of electrical equipment like something on a timer that is switching on or off at a guess but just wondering if anyone else has noticed it?

Re: FunCube Pro questions
Neither the Funcube Pro+ or original Funcube will actually cover that, the Pro+ has a gap from around 240 to 420 mhz and the original one appears to start from 64 mhz.Bearcatta wrote:What is the best dongle I should get for 25 to 470 mhz?
I do not know about the DTV dongles a lot of people seem to be using, but there seems to be quite a few people on here using them so they might be able to advise you better on their freq range.

Re: FunCube Pro questions
The ones with an R820t tunder can get down around that far...
I've had half a dozen of these now:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170942168690? ... 1497.l2649
Each one ever so slightly different but no lemons as yet. Will not compare to a FCD out of the box though, no front end filtering and a bit of work to use. Worth messing about with though if you have the inclination.

Re: FunCube Pro questions
Yes.
If you want a finished product, get a Funcube Pro+.
If you want to hack around with some ridiculously cheap yet powerful hardware, get a cheap digital TV dongle and try to coax it into doing something that it was never intended to do.
Either option is fine and both will give you hours of pleasure.

The Pro+ goes from 150kHz to 1.9GHz with the gap I have already mentioned.Bearcatta wrote:I dont mind that gap as i dont monitor militry anywaysneil-c wrote:Neither the Funcube Pro+ or original Funcube will actually cover that, the Pro+ has a gap from around 240 to 420 mhz and the original one appears to start from 64 mhz.Bearcatta wrote:What is the best dongle I should get for 25 to 470 mhz?

Obviously it is far more expensive than the tv type dongles but I bought it mainly for hf/sw listening.
I have not tried it that much on vhf/uhf but on the times I have tried, the performance is very on par with my scanners.
Plenty of free sdr software and it would give you the bonus of having a very decent shortwave receiver as well.

Re: FunCube Pro questions
i've found that since i updated my sdr/console v2..i don't get the success rate as i used to...is anybody ales getting this result
also..i don't seem to be able to get HDSDR working as good as it should be,i get a lot of noise..is it the garex wire thats bringing this in..it's 60ft long and 20ft high.
should the wire be higher or would it be better to make another long wire or has my funcube + stopped working..i don't see it anywhere on my pc and i get nothing in any of the sdr software even though they still choose it.
