yeah ive been working on it for a while.. the servers toast

so i am going to start hosting my http server from this computer, but i am allways mobile with this as it is a laptop so i can only get acsess when i am at home or a wifi spot
ive mannaged to aquire one of our local collage's old... old...... old rack mount server ive had my eye on it for ages and every time i saw the techs i allways bugged them till eventualy they let me have it, but theres some parts missing :/
ive had to order them from japan and its cost quite a bit to get them.. i am afrade compters come first from my wireless communications intrests. i dont think i will get them untill 2 weeks time.. they said it might take untill the 5th of July!! ..wtf??

any way, it will be faster than my old server as it runs 2 mobos back to back its somting like a AMD Duron (dur-on) clocked to around 1.3Ghz lucky i have 2 old AMD XP 3000+ which i know can be locked to around 2.85Ghz as i had it in my old.. old games computer as for ram its got just over 2gig its got a hard drive with it but its only a 120Gb but you can mount quite a lot in it and i have loads of spair drives lying around
when i get it running ive got the huge question to make of what OS i am going to run on it.. i have a copy of Winserv 2003 that came with it.. but i am kinda shifting towards the debian linux side... humm its a hard one

well when i get it running i will put a post here..

in the mean time the http server will still be here but only when i am here really late at night or early in the morning... over night this computers left turned on so theres the best times to connect up. (GMT+0)

total cost :
?13 for the parts
?60 for the shipping
and my wallet empty:/

hehe i think its worth it

Peace all

Good luck with the new server. That's WAY more than you need for just a web server but hey - gives you room for expansion! Let us know when it's all up and running.

How large are the files? Is there any way you could send a file to me through msn, or through email as an attachment?

If so please let me know. I'm after programming software for the Icom IC-F3GS

Thanks

Hi, by all means carry on with sharing Motorola software but be aware that especially if you start hosting it on HTTP servers and giving it out Willy nilly the big M gets VERY angry and trust me, their legal department gets court orders and sues like you buy milk and bread. Just be aware of the consequences that's all, I've helped people out with software and things, mostly for older radios but I wont give it out totally willy-nilly or offer it out as I don't fancy giving Mr batwings few grand for it.

Scott.

Hello

Does anyone have Programming software for the Icom IC-F25, been searching everywhere for a copy. Only found foreign sites, so no use. A copy would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Am new to all this radio programming but am trying to get gear together to programme some visar radio's both VHF and UHF.

I seem to be able to get the cable OK but the software seems a bit harder. :o

How hard using the software on the net are these to programme?

Seems to require a lot of inside know how....I had been hoping it would almost be plug and play lol.

Any advice gratefully received....
