Then, it was a 102L, not just a 102 and he didn't want to sell it.
Now its just a 102 and he does :-k
mmmm suss :? whats the difference between these 2 different models?

I had a mint 102L some time back - it was beautifully engineered.

The gear-train for the VFO was a work of art but I recall the selectivity was pretty poor.

Ant ~ Two co-phased coathangers

I have a nice LS102L and a "Mint" version with its box,and bracket, book ect. These radios I recall were over £250 in early 1981 and were sold by Lowes Electronics in Matlock as I have various "CB World" magazines with them in.So as I say I own 2 of them and love them to bits. The Belcom is the same size as a Superstar 3900 but weighs twice as much.As pointed out they use a weird Frequency "Chopper" VFO.When I bought my second one the VFO worked in reverse....this was soon put right. To gain 26-27 megs you pull out the NB knob on the squelch. Both mine are modded the same, with it in it works 28-30 megs 10 meter band. For some reason the guys in 14 division have most of these "Gems" that were made in Japan.Belcom also did a 6 Meter version that looked the same. Also they made 2 meter SSB radio called "Liner 2s".I also own a very nice Belcom VHF marine scanner (looks a lot like the police scanners with the red flashing lights....made in 1979 I think). If you put in "m0ogy" in the Youtube search I have various Belcom videos as well as other CB/Ham ones...........73's Dave 26TM192 ;)

i must admit 20 years ago the 102 was a cracking set..
even my own 25 to 30mhz version was great..
BUT i hated how you used the 10hz switch then went back to the 100hz and you could be 90hf up frequency so 27.555.9 which on SSB is way off..!!

but receive was good, looks for the uniden lovers and built like a tank..
had a couple of liner 2's and a liner 15 at one time i think it was..
didn't realise they made the liner series which were 20mtrs to 70cms

wonder if anyone has the full line up with matching PSU's :)

There is a ham near me,who has a LS102L for sale.It has the original mic and bracket, and looks in pretty good nick to me.He wants £100 for it.Does that represent good value? I have not had a chance to play with it yet,but he uses it to monitor 10m with, and that is about it.I am half tempted to grab it off of him,but I am not sure how much they are worth.

You 14 division guys must have the most Belcoms in the world......why do the French prefer Belcoms?, not that I'm disagreeing as they are propper radios, and I love mine to bits.
I have found an LS602 since last posting on this thread , boxed as new, just looks like a 102 but for 6 meters band.
This is one of mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUZWwnQ6 ... ature=plcp
