Speaking to people in foreign lands, with various configurations of copper wire in various strange shapes - my friends think I'm committing acts of witchcraft...

had the 102 and 102L
belcom and sommerkamp set the stage for the current crop of cb/10mtr sets,
odd/advanced for a radio of its period, uses an optical encoder for the vfo that turns like a skateboard wheel, the first cb i saw using varactors to tune the front end as now used in the ranger 2950
suffer poor rejection if used in busy areas especially on fm, can be filtered,
not the most sensitive receiver when compared to the best unidens,
receiver agc gets pounded by very strong local signals,
slightly narrow but generally good quality tx/rx audio when aligned correctly,
built like a tank in comparison to modern cb's, i have a soft spot for the old belcom even though they are not great at anything, they were heading in the right direction,
diode matrix conversion for extra bands.

This was my first ever (transmitting) radio, modded to 11m, it was my introduction to 11m SSB amateur radio-type operating (I never used FM CB back then) and along with the Cobra 148GTL-DX that I also had slightly later, I wish I still had it!
Amateur Radio operator, Short Wave Listener, 11m FM CB, and PMR 446....I'm a happy chappie!

I spoke to him about it yesterday.stalker9fdx555 wrote:One for sale here, http://tinyurl.com/6x8onm think the guy is in Northwich
Then, it was a 102L, not just a 102 and he didn't want to sell it.
Now its just a 102 and he does :-k
He's regular wheeler-dealer on junky, so watch your step.
