Hello From Ont Canada
Was using CB radios in the 70/80 of illegal UK radios the progressed to armature radio I moved to Ontario Canada in 1987 and looked to do radio test and setting up a station but money was tight so it took a side step, life and other family commitments plus other hobbies took prescient till the spring of 2018 when I picked up a Cobra 148F GTL for a good price (will try attache pictures). Now march 2019 pulled radio to finally see what it needs and to setup one of the thing you will see in the pictures that there are two toggle switches on back of radio im assuming for extra channels and im wondering if there is a better extra channel mod plus any other mods out the, all I can see from internet search are mods for 148gtx. Well that about all for now I will post more question as I get into radio.

Re: Hello From Ont Canada
Whereabouts in ONT are you ? I lived in Kitchener and Toronto in the early 90s ?
I've never had the 148F , but it looks to be the same pcb that the 148 GTL (Malaysia) uses . Your rear panel switches are channel mods . Don't know what channels they give you though . Easy mod for the MB8719 PLL . The problem with those types of radios (with the buttons on the front) is that you're limited to where you can put additional switches . If you want to use one of the existing push button ones then it can be a bit of a pain to do . Your counter module doesn't look straight . Not sure why that is . I wouldn't have it floating around in there , if that's the case .
You can get decent dedicated MB8719 PIC or AVR channel expansion modules these days . I usually buy the HI band one (with +10khz) from one of the members on here .
Or go can go for one of Gerhards modules .

Re: Hello From Ont Canada
Greetings, and welcome aboard the TM1 barge.
My dad lives on Ontario. A little place called Casselman which is about an hours drive from Montreal. Beautiful place it is too.
I, as I'm sure we all do, wish you all the very best on your return to radio
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!
Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...
