I'm not sure if it's my lack of experience in such but I have found my president linc 1 a tad deff ? .
Only having local dx button and even on dx I find a slightly weaker signal than let's say my rotel 240 on fm high mid
Ssb I can't compare but I assume it's deaf and here is my questions point to raise.
If the linc 1 is deaf even slightly as I read tbey can be would the use of a variable pre amp be of benefit.
Yes I know it will bring in mush too but is the amp the way to go with this.
I do like the idea of a variable rf gain on a radio too.
Any recommended that would suit if say 10/11 mtrs that won't break the bank.
Thank you

Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

Google for dg2iaq lincoln modification sheet.
Originally Lincoln have 0.8uV @12dB SINAD on AM, 0.23 SSB
After some work will have 0.18-0.2uV am/fm/ssb
Difference is huge.

Re: Your experiences with pre amps on hf
I've done it plus some more on 40+ radios It just works.
For best effect full align will be needed since those radios are aligned for 28-29.7MHz but without that there will ba difference.
