Ham jumbo 3/whats it worth

Post by mrpsychopath »

What the going rate for a jumbo 3. Serviced by Nick, standard ham mic, with handles. Low channels corrected
E band changed to uk. Needs rf gain control to be perfect, attenuator switch still works, just rotary not. Rf up full as normal. Just asking before i get flamed if i advertise it for too much.

Depends if it's going on ebay or on here. Ebay, maybe £250-ish, but others may say less... although if Nick's been inside it, it should make it more attractive and desirable to some in-the-know.

Maybe shove it on at £299 buy-it-now with a "make an offer" option if you're happy with that.

On here you'll likey get a bit less as per usual, but the chances of being messed about are very greatly reduced.

Good luck with it regardless :)

If in doubt, stick it on auction for a 99p starting price with the auction ending about 9pm on a Sunday night. It should find it's own value in bids then as most people will only pay what it's truly worth.

You could always stick a reserve on of say £199 just in case to cover yourself a bit.

You say it's missing the rf gain control ? If so take it your talking about the control knob or just the rotation off it ? If it's the actual knob itself personally would try track one down as it could put a lot off folk off buying as would imagine they are fairly hard to find nowadays ?

Good luck anyway the set I always wanted but could never afford, always remember gaizing at the Ham Int colour sales leaflet for it and thinking if only !!!!

Got any pics be nice to see one.

The rf gain Control is there, just the rotary part is faulty, didnt have a spare when it was being worked on by Nick. The pull out attenuation switch is still working. Pics i were going to add to this post were too big to add. I will put it on evilbay later today.

The carbon strip inside the control was broken/worn so rf gain wasnt working correctly, And because Jumbos etc use those extra long controls i didnt have one to replace it, The rf gain control on the Jumbo 3 is also a push pull ATT switch and that still functions.

What at, £50? ;)

It might pay to get a brighter picture of the front panel on your ad'. I've seen people put on deliberately fuzzy or dark ones to hide blemishes, scratches and hidden switch covers etc. A picture's worth a thousand words as the saying goes. You can usually add up to 12 for free :)
