Re: Grant, not seen this type before
I think I remember seeing a webpage which showed all of the different Grant types.
I think the 3 button version was pre-Uniden.

I have a PC-176AA Grant here, board's marked Uniden and it was made in Japan.bigal68 wrote:Hi Sammy,
There were 3 SSB President radio's that had the second 858 chassis in them.
The first chassis no. was PC-176 which I believe was short lived and I think the only SSB radio with that in was a Courier.... a Spartan I think.... someone will put me right I'm sure....

Yeah . I think we figured this one out before . The early WASHINGTON , MADISON , GRANT and ADAMS , with the uPD858 were all made in Japan in 77/78 . They must have moved production to Taiwan pretty soon after that .

The comment above was saying that the only chassis with PC-176 was a Courier. I was saying that I have a Grant with a PC-176AA chassis.

Re: Grant, not seen this type before
Is there a dedicated schematic for the PC-176 ? I can probably piece it together from the TRC-449 (PC-196) which looks similar , but it would be easier if I had the original diagram .

Re: Grant, not seen this type before
If there is I haven't found it yet. There's a Sams manual to cover the 3 button Grant, and you can download the schematic for £20 or something, but for that you should be able to get an entire sams manual posted. The thing is, that particular Sams manual never comes up for sale.cb4ever104 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 16:14 Is there a dedicated schematic for the PC-176 ? Re: Grant, not seen this type before
Surprising that a copy of that manual hasn't been uploaded somewhere after all this time. I'm using the Realistic schematic at the moment. It's slightly different though. I bought mine years ago without really testing it. I'm going to give it a once over now and sort out the couple of issues that it has.

Reading with interest, not sure this helps or not and you all probably have this Master Mods Volumes 1>7. In particular Vol 1 & 2 seem relevant to the 858 3 button Grant and others.
The scans of this are ok but not optimised so large file, thought you might as well get all the volumes I have.
