Production of the president Jackson MK1 (Silver) was in the mid 80's with the PB042 board (MRF477) , i had one of the very first and the price was 749 dutch guilders . I have still somewhere the serialnumber tag because i had to mlunt the potmeter for adjustable power. ;-)
Yes . I know that . I got my dates a bit mixed up . The serial number of your silver one will probably be 53XXXX , or 63XXXXX .

Hi,

Thanks for the information I appreciate it. Could never quite remember how the pll date was figured but its pretty simple when you see it.

Cheers,

Dougie

Call me daft, but how did you get the 88 date from the serial plate? As starting 63 I would have assumed it was 1986 and not 1988

Although the PLL is definitely 1988

It's an 8 Simon . Took me about 5 minutes of moving the pc to different angles to see it properly :)

Hi, The Serial No on the Back Plate is 63001835.

Does this mean the Chassis is circa 1986 but sat on a shelf waiting for parts till w/c 4th April 1988?

Well . My apologies Simon . Looks like I'm the one that needs to go to Specsavers :)

I'm looking at the first photo again Dougie . Both your binary adders are stamped 86 . So I'm guessing that the pll has been changed . Have a look at the solder side . So . Yours was made in 86 . Sorry about that . The serial number wasn't easy to read and I got distracted by the pll .

That's the problem with many of these old radio's. They've had numerous mods done, both by skilled rig doctors and the "screwdriver brigade". Some have had these mods removed and, as a result, components have had to be replaced due to damage/bad workmanship. This is more than likely why your Jackson has confused the hell out of poor Sammy.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...
