Yeah . I think I must have been sleeping when I first posted on this thread . Just had a look . The Uniden factory in the Philippines opened in 1988 . So , lots of 148 GTLs and 2000 GTLs being pumped out at that time I imagine So 25XX = 1992 , and 025XX = 2002 (I think )

You will avoid a lot of problems in the future.
What if you run a powered mic, like a Liberty etc?
To be honest you may be better off changing the socket to 4 pin, it will be loads easier if you have other Uniden radios in the shack, especially if you use a single mic/desk mic with them.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Use 8V from internal regulator.
On brown wire you have direct connection to power supply, imagine what can 20A(or whatever amperage of PC is) when you make mistake when wiring microphone.
I had plenty of those on my workbench to repair.

You can't have too many antennas...
So do I , but they're getting on in age now . And it's difficult to find one in good condition . I have a boxed black 5 band as well . AGC mod done on it . There's not many radios that beat it for performance and reliability .

Production of the president Jackson MK1 (Silver) was in the mid 80's with the PB042 board (MRF477) , i had one of the very first and the price was 749 dutch guilders . I have still somewhere the serialnumber tag because i had to mlunt the potmeter for adjustable power.
