Superstar 360FM ....box

Post by cb4ever104 »

Yes . Here it is . The thread of the day ! The one you've all been waiting for ......... yawn :)

I've just noticed that there are 2 different boxes for the 360FM . The older one with the 360 photo on it (and coffin mic) , and FM sticker . Plus , I've just seen a later one with the correct radio and newer mic on it . I thought all the boxes were the older type . I have a boxed 1981 radio which I'm sure has the old box . The newer one must have been introduced sometime later . I'm hoping this thread gets a 1,000,000 hits , and maybe goes viral :)

I got a silver Dirland 3900 in a box with the 360FM 'proper' picture on circa 1998. It was a bit more orangey/yellow than yellow.

999,999 to go.

I have seen a few recently in France sammy but they tend to have the 40+40+40 ripped off.
I wondered if it was something to do with legislation in France

However your very eagle eye spotted a slight change in box design. Well done

Hi Claude .

But all your pictures are from the newer model . The older 1980/81 box had a photo of the 360 , with the "FM/SSB" sticker on it .

I have only ever had one 360FM that was boxed and it was a stealth model, but had the earlier box with AM/SSB/FM label.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Claude, does that receipt say 40000F ? We were running around 10/1 at the time, £4000 seems a bit pricey unless you bought 25 of them.

Hi Claude .

No . That's fine . That's what I was saying . The early 1979 SS360 boxes with the "FM/SSB" sticker actually contained the earlier 360FM radios .

Thanks for the photos anyway :)

The later boxes were introduced when the AC/AD boards were being produced in the late 80's/early 90's. These were manufactured by President Electronics and later rebadged as the "Richard".

If the box is the version with only "SSB/AM" printed and with a photo of a non-FM 360, and also has an "SSB/AM/FM" sticker, does this mean that the chassis is likely to be the MK1 type?

The very early Dirland 3900 boxes did bear a striking resemblance to the 360 FM boxes.
