Looks like Tim's SWR control was modded because the old dual control broke then. Shame :( BTW, if anyone reading this thread has a duff 360 with nice cases and / or front panel please pm me. Mine works, but it's cosmetically rough.

Progress thus far is, I've found receive but on TX it makes a slight noise and the TX/RX LED blinks but remains green, almost like the switching relay or whatever doesn't kick in, but that's it. I'm stumped now. The SWR switch/knob is as original as far as I know, all my SS's only have a single control knob for SWR calibrate. By the picture that Claude has kindly posted up of the mic socket, it would appear that the one on mine is wired incorrectly, compare the pictured one to the way I said mine is wired in an earlier post.

Fair enough . It's quite a common mod to do . I prefer to leave all my 5 pin radios "as is" and just use a 5 to 4 pin adapter .

PLL sounds as if it isn't locked . That's why it isn't TX'ing . Your SWR control is NOT original . The 79 SS360 has a dual control . I can see the dodgy "SWR" lettering that someone has put on it from the photo you uploaded . I've no idea why someone would have changed it . Maybe it broke off as Tim (Otter) says . Here's the owners manual where you can clearly see how the radio looked when it left the factory .

Okay, thanks. It means that a bit of work is needed to return it to it's original state, which I think would be the way to go, it doesn't stand me in a great amount so worth putting a bit more to it to sort it out properly.

Besides Sammy's suggestion, the fault on your radio could be the MB3756. There should be a continuous output voltage of 8.2V on pin 1, On Rx there should be 8.2V on pin 6, and on Tx 8.2V on pin 8

It needs a little more attention and care that I can give to it at present so I'll put it to bed for now and formulate a plan. Thanks all for your input on this radio, it gives me something to work with.
