If they have been badly buggered about with they are not normally worth the hassle.

That's my sentiment too Simon . The guy wanted €300 (£265) for them all . If they had been in good nick , then I would have driven down and bought them . People go nuts when they see the S9 and MK V . I basically see them as £100 radios , plus £30 each for the 3900s . Which is more or less what the guy was asking . But as I mentioned previously . The MK V had a gaping hole in the back , and some missing case screws (another telltale sign of a radio that's been messed about with) . The 3900s had non factory , and badly fitted heat sinks on the back . And holes drilled .... and RCA connectors fitted.....and missing screws . The S9 looked OK , but it's just too much money , and too much hassle for me to go down to see them based on what I saw .

The 2 Jacksons cost me £17 , which is more up my street :)

Bought 2 working Quasar uk40 (+ 3 marine rx channels) for £25. White plastics are yellowed but that can be sorted. They're Uniden-boarded so thought it was worth a few quid to mess with them. No gold plating these though etc ;)

What are those K40-type dynamic mic's like?

I was thinking of getting one to try as opposed to the speech processor type.

I have tried a normal K40. Didn't seem any better than a normal coffin mic...

I have a k40 on my 8001 and reports are realy good for it against a standard mike, a lot more punch, hi tone is a bit to high though.

no idea the one in the pic is the newer type with no switch and says "speech processor" on front and back
checked inside and has the normal circuit and large cap,the radio it came with has the diode and resistor mod also.
deffo not a dynamic mic

Ah..cheers Chris, thought it was the dynamic version as can't expand it much on my phone. The extra wording on it confused me ;)

If you decide to flog it let me know. I may be able to do the mic' socket mod myself.

Just won the bidding on a very tidy pair of Grandstand 4ch handhelds. One has a dodgy aerial (section pulls out) but I've got a non-worker in the loftshack so it'll get swapped over when they arrive in a few days.
