No not shot, that is too quick and painless. Hung drawn and quartered is more like it. ;)

Ha Ha, you are probably right. All down to timing, When the first Lincoln came out I was moving away from CB and onto amateur radio. I only came back to CB just over 2 years ago.

Well you've still got time then :)

My Lincoln is my main radio in the shack just now. I know they're nothing special, but it gives me easy use of both 10 and 11m with no messing about.

The Lincoln 1 is decent enough, but as it has the MC3357 for FM and it is only single conversion on AM it is pretty obvious that it was built down to a cost.

In practice they work well enough, but there are plenty of others which will out perform it. I remember a while back I had a Galaxy Pluto which worked better than my Lincoln in everything apart from frequency stability as it warmed up...

I have both radios and wouldn't part with either...The 257 or in my case Albrecht 485 always gets great transmit audio reports.

I found the Lincoln a little deaf compared to the SS-360FM and a lot worse at picking out weak stations out of the noise than the Magnum.

The Magnum has the L1 beaten in every area apart from build quality IMO.

My brother owned both also. His 257 though was a first production blue light job and he said it wasn't as well made as the 485.
Can anybody vouch for that?
I'll pay whatever i think it's worth...:-)

Same radio same factory..If both were second hand the buttons on the bottom seem to wobble a tad after a few years use, i wonder if thats what he thought was the issue..both cracking radios
