Antenna Maintenance

Post by MrWeetabix »

I finally got some time to down the antennas last night. The house looks very bare without the verticals up there any more, but the missus seems happier. Fanny that! ha

The iMax had managed to work itself loose from the middle section, which explains the jaunty angle it had been leaning at for a while now. Pleased I got to it when I did, as I don't think it would have hung on too much longer.

The 5/8 antenna also needed some attention, but I think I'll just retire that one and keep it for mobile work.

Just bought a brand new iMax and a new Tribander to reduce the number of verticals up there and give me max band coverage.

The 3ele is still in fine fettle and I gave all the cables, pulleys and moving parts a good oiling to keep them tip-top.

Hopefully, once I have the new antennas up I can then actually try and get some time to spend in the shack, but at least I won't have any excuse not to get on air.

I will be putting a load of antennas and spares on the For Sale section soon, so keep your eyes peeled. :-)

They are commercially-available from this site

I LOVE it..... doesn;t get as much use as it should, but I've had all of my Asian contacts on that, as well as working into SA when most people can;t even hear them locally :-)

I have one fully-working one on order, and lots of sections of others, I could probably get one working one from the spares, which I'd use mobile me thinks.

I'll be listing the spares for sale on here soon, I have sh*t loads of antenna stuff to get rid of. I have an Snowdonia HF360, two 510N 2/70 18ft verticals and quite a few mobile ones to get shot of. Clear-out time! :-)
