Amstrad 901 0n Steriods.

This radio was one of those that I always fancied but never got around to owning. They were never quite common in Stoke and I can only remember hearing one on air. I even remember the breaker's handle. If remember rightly the pcb is inverted and has a hole in the centre where the speaker magnet comes through. But I maybe wrong?

Your quite right, Same insides as the grandstand gemini and the grandstand home base, Uses a 38mhz loop crystal and popular for converting to 10m, I still have some 10m crystals for one of these somewhere.

I always preferred the one with the s-meter than the gemini with its RX/TX LEDS.

Im sure the grandstand homebase and the gemini were also badged as atron.

Not a bad radio really I know the wires inside were very fragile though and the Gemini below was darn ugly :)

I prefer the one with the "normal" meter as it is not as ugly as the Gemini, I would say average but not a bad rig if i am being honest.

I just found an original Grandstand 5 pin mic in my box of bits too :?
