Lincoln 2 or grant 2 which is the better performer?

Post by Vapor »

Iam up for a new radio, have to say the grant 2 looks good and is uniden boarded, the new lincoln 2 seems to be Chinese made but is it as good?. it might have all the bells whistles but has anyone done a side by side check. which has the better RX? on all modes.

before i purchase either one i would like to know, as RF power out dosnt interest me.

any grant 2 owners post the RX performance experince's so far and compared to what radio so we might get an idea of the grants RX.

Depends what u want it for

The Grant 2 will make a good legal radio but not so good as an export radio due to it only operating on the 5's and 0's

The Lincoln 2 should hopefully be a good export radio.

Its the RX performance iam interested in really, as you can switch export mode if you really want to. I would have no problem fitting a switch to go from export mode to standard mode, its about RX performance for me.

Receiver performance under strong signal conditions would make a good comparison too, as well as TX audio.

FFS  .......I did the review, went to bed at 2.45AM and then got up @ 6.30AM and went to work until 5.00PM this evening.......what do you think?

As one is set on the Ham band and the other on the CB, it would be hard to test.
Maybe I'll fire my signal gene up and test it like that with a tone.

Having had a look at pictures of the insides of both radios they both look very well built.

However the Grant appears to be better thought out. All of the components appear in pretty much straight lines on the board where as the Lincoln 2 has them in a rather haphazard fashion.

Of course this doesn't affect performance as such, but it might just go to show a bit extra thought has been put into the Grant.
