Buy a decent radio first and then worry about the microphone. If it's an old school radio you want buy something with a Uniden board in it and a microphone akin to an Astatic teardrop.

Re: Best Microphone for Cybernet SSB Radio
I agree with Tim that uniden boarded radios are great, but the 777 is one of the better cybernet boards in my opinion in terms of performance.
It won't be such a good all rounder, but they can work very well if setup properly.
Most decent mics will work well on it, I have used Sadelta Bravo plus and Silver Eagles on them and they sound good.
Just make sure you send it to Nick (Black spirit) to be setup correctly if you decide to get it.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

The Ham International Relax is a good one.
It gives a touch of bass to your voice which can be advantageous on the tinnier-sounding Cybernets

Personally I like the old cybernet export radios but as said above they need to be correctly aligned and maybe have a few small mods to sound ok especially on ssb

Re: Best Microphone for Cybernet SSB Radio
I have a Multimode 2 which sounds more than reasonable on SSB with its original stock mic. But putting my NM532 on it makes it sound top notch according to radio reports.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!
Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

There is at least one on eBay. I would have another.
I prefer the Nato type cybernets though. Apart from some bleedover they work very well.
