Dutch FM Broadcasts heard in UK 05/06/2016

Post by MrWeetabix »

Did anyone else get these today? I was out and about and I had some weird interference on my pre-programmed FM stations in the car. When I scanned the band, I was getting all kinds of Dutch stations, as well as Radio Scotland, so there was a definite lift on around 100 mhz.

I know 11m was pretty crap, but did anyone get any luck with 6m or 2m perhaps?

They're back again this morning on my commute to work. I didn't even realise it was a Dutch station till they started speaking as it was so strong and clear.

Good conditions again today for some of the HAM bands people, fill your boots!

That was always the trigger back in the day, when you got a bit of Johnny Foreigner wafting over BBC Radio2 then it was time to run upstairs to the shack and fire up 2m.

Quite intense tropospheric ducting to the near continent I believe,

A great site to keep your eye on the tropo forecast and it's usually spot on too.
Great for planning hill top VHF/UHF activity a few days in advance of band openings.

I was even getting Norwegian DAB last night! I didn't realise that the European DAB bands were harmonised, shows how much attention I pay!

Anyone had any good contacts these past few days then?

I don;t have any 70mhz-capable gear or I'd have a go. I may get some shack time on Thursday night, so hopefully conditions are still good and I can work 6m or 2m :-)

This is a bit off topic but just wanted to tell everyone that there must has been a lift on TV digital as I just so happened to re-tune my digital TV and picked up several distant radio stations as well as BBC one meridian and BBC one Oxfordshire and so on I can't get them now but on the day I was getting pretty much almost everything from all over the south east of England

Yes loads of Dutch and German DAB multiplexes. As well as this Dutch and Belgian repeaters were popping up over the 2m and 70cm band.
