China Radio International

Post by mikecharlie »

Never posted in here before, but I'm sure some of you will have listened to CRI on 1440 khz MF at some point?

It sounds like its gone, as after months, tuned in last night only to hear its been replaced with some Korean station, although it is still from Radio Luxembourg,( national anthem played at end)
Listened to 0100 when they closed down at the same time CRI did, and there was no mention of where CRI is now. (Itll be on 3 to 30 somewhere I know, but thats not the point really)

Dissapointing its gone, because it was one of my first DX discoveries when tuning to the end of the scale on a dial tuned HIFI!!! :)

A shame, but it's not like they're not listenable.
They're consistently the strongest SW broadcaster I can hear,
They seem to have several outputs on every major band.
Never a mention of Tienanmen Square or Taiwan though he he.

I know, Ive heard it on multiple frequencies before , regularly on 3 to 30 somewhere, sometimes in English sometimes in Chinese.
It was just easier somehow to go to 1440 khz at the same time, each time and know it was there.

17490 from Urumqui is always stonkingly loud all day here,
then after dark they seem to occupy the entire 7mhz band in a variety of European Languages
