Odd email

Post by Paul-H »

I received this a few weeks ago:

TO 26TM160

dear Paul

this is george 18MT001, on 2/7/15 we had a qso

I SEND YOU MY QSL CARD IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT (PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PICTURE)

PLEASE send me your qsl in the same way

thank you very much for the qso and hope to hear you again on the air

(I found your email address from the qrz.com in your ham call M6PHX)

I HAVE ALSO SENT YOU QSL VIA eQSL.cc

// PLEASE USE ANY WAY THAT IS EASIER FOR YOU (eQSL.cc OR EMAIL)

The qsl card he sent stated we'd had a qso on 2/7/15 at 1939 UTC, 27595 USB.
The only thing is I haven't been on 11 meters for over a year??

Is someone using my TM callsign?
How did he get my ham callsign from my TM callsign?
I've checked my qrz log and his ham callsign doesn't appear on it.
I haven't used qrz for a few months but always logged contacts pretty much as I had them.
Confused..

It might have something to do with your board signature.

He has point.
However, that doesn't explain how he spoke to you when you say you haven't been on.
He may have misheard the call sign or you may have forgotten the QSO due to a knock on the head

High possibility of a knock on the head!
But still, my HF set doesn't transmit on 11m.
I see now where he got the callsigns from though.

Cheers!
