555 Activity

Post by Doug S »

Morning all ,

I am a new member of Tango Mike up in North East Scotland. Been back on the CB for a few months now and recently bought a Superstar 360 and a Sirio 827 for use on 555. I know my set up is working well on FM and have tested it on ssb with a local breaker to confirm it works.

I havent heard any other activity on 555, and have put out many CQ calls but received no response. Is it just because of conditions? Even put out quite a few CQ calls on 27.515 and no response or activity heard there either.

Am I doing anything wrong or do I just need to be patient haha

Thanks in advance,

Doug

27.555 is the main 11m calling freq matie, although (back in the day) we also used 26.285 USB.

The band is fairly flat at the moment, its always the same during the winter months, we do have some brief openings, but never for long and they tend to be mostly European ones.

Best think to to is keep listening, I always have 555 ticking over whenever I am int he house. I find the hash more interestign than the BS they spount on ch19muppets, so its all good. haha

Good Luck, Good DX and welcome to TM1!

I was the same when I came back on 6-8 months ago after going QRT when the last cycle meant working Europe on a watt was boring.

Came back on to hear nothing, checked all connections, swr still good on the old 827, etc etc, oh yeah where are we in the cycle..?

Some good conditions today.

I heard and managed to make a very short contact with 18 Division and also 34 Division was coming through 5-9 but I couldnt make contact. 555 was on and off for alot of the day!

Things can only get better!
