Essex Skills Night Monday Feb 18

Skills Night takes place at 7pm on Monday, February 18 in the Danbury Village Hall, Essex, CM3 4NQ. This free event is open to all with an interest in any aspect of radio.

Hosted by the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society Training Team, Skills Nights are Inter-Club events attended by amateurs and SWL's from across Essex and beyond. They provide an opportunity to try something new, share ideas, get help and advice, and socialise with others interested in the hobby.

There is a Free Raffle ticket to everyone who signs in at the door.

The provisional agenda this month includes:
• Essex CW ARS with Dean G4WQI and his team there to help anyone who may be interested in learning Morse. Dean will have the laptop and CARS Monitor to help newcomers learn a little bit more about Morse Code. Maybe get signed off on your Foundation Morse Practical with a qualified tutor.
• New Post-it Board which seems to be working well. Need help with a radio related problem Post-it (there is a lot of expertise available in the Club)
• Kevin 2E0FEQ Demonstrating the use of the CARS IC-7300 Transceiver
• Demonstrations: on soldering PL259 & BNC & N Connectors if requested. Also Ferrite Baluns and Coils
• Full range of Ferrite and Connectors will be available for sale at cost. Patch leads made on request (at cost)
• Table top sale Bring/buy (cost 10% of sales £3.00 max) Now is the time to free up space and sell, all those items no longer required sitting in your Shack.
• Intermediate and Foundation Practical’s being completed ready for their exams later in the week.
• For Sale: There will be a CARS mini Table Top Sale. We have two tables available at a cost of £3.00 per table (Tables must be booked in advance). Previous CARS Training Radios for sale will be available "try before you buy"
• Advance Tuition with one to one Mentoring
• A Fun Quiz with Murray G6JYB

The activity list is subject to change and availability.

Refreshments as always on offer, thanks to our team in the kitchen. One maybe surprised, Tracey’s Famous Cream Cakes! (Donations greatly received to help cover the room hire) Please Donate.

Four candidates will be sitting their Exams in the Exam room. The Training Team & everybody wish them every success.

Anyone wishing to take Practicals for Foundation or Intermediate can be signed off at CARS. Also On-Line Exams are now available for everyone of any club who wish to use the facility and a wide selection of dates are available. Further information from the Training Manager Peter Davies M0PSD at
