AM (Not the morning-y one) on HF.

Is there a place on HF (aside from 5MHz...) where AM is actually used? I'd like to give it a go, I know it can be used on most bands. It would make sense to go somewhere where there is some activity, ideally in the evenings/nights. I've been listening on 10/11m but heard nothing as it's usually quite late.

Not popular in EU, but I heard a lot of NA stations in AM. Not possible to work them, because thay transmit over 3.8MHz

I gave it a go on 80m once. Upset loads of people who like having something to get upset about.

Sunday Morning AM Nets mainly on Top Band 1.940MHz 10 am.

When it is open on ten metres there is an AM sub band still in use both in the USA and across Europe

Usually this is in between 29.000-29.100 Mhz with a ten Khz spacing .

There is a curious mixture of equipment in use from converted AM CB transceivers (10 khz spacing fairly obvious that one) former broadcast equipment and home brewed AM transceivers .

I have had some fabulous QSOs up there on AM using very low power . 500mw and even 200mw .

There is a definite hard core of amateurs on the Eastern seaboard of the USA that use AM on 29Mhz

Thanks, I'll give 1940 a try if I can tune it. I like 10m too, I can keep an eye on that /m.
