Motorola MTH800 Antenna

Post by LijongTao »

Hi all

I have the Motorola MTH800 and I am looking for an external car antenna for it. Does anyone know what fitting it is on the radio? I've posted a photo of the antenna itself if you can tell from that? A company does PMR antennas but they don;t know the fitting.

Thanks Li

The antenna socket is proprietory and conmects only to a driven element, so that's of no use for plugging in an extension. As I recall the MTH series there's an antenna socket on the rear casing concealed under a rubber blanking bung, and that is where the antenna lead would need to be connected.

In our work cars there was a hands free cradle, much like the old Nokia hands free car kits from before the era of smartphones, and that not only charged the set but connected to an external antenna.
