Yet another acquired for the collection today...a rare version of the AR88D the RAF designated R1556A hence the different coloured front panel.
Working well & in decent condition,it has been modernised & has been totally rewired & had all the bathtub capacitors replaced & it has the original AR88 Signal meter fitted.
This radio nearly ended up in a skip! the chap i bought it from said it had been his Uncles who past away 2 years ago,he saved it along with another radio i acquired today, the SK's family lobbed everything in the skip & his nephew rescued this as it was one of the last radios left in the house, obviously too heavy for them to lift into the skip so a blessing in disguise.
Not bad for £60 eh

Re: What Ham Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
Cheers Craig, yep she's a big un for sure,i have x3 AR88D's here now as well as x6 R1155's ,x1 T1154L transmitter, x1 BC-348R, x1 HRO , x1 Hallicrafters S36A & quite a few other radios, got them stashed around the house from "er indoors" until i get my shelving sorted in the radio room.
I had to do a little online detective work to ascertain it was a R1556A and to be honest there is'nt very much info out there then today while i was cleaning it i noticed this on the side of the chassis & this confirmed it,so i was correct

Re: What Ham Radio Stuff did you buy today? (2018)
A FT-707 that i bought off ebay arrived today that i paid £62 for,was told it had no transmit but it does transmit & recieve on all bands apart from 12 meters which i think is a Low pass filter unit relay issue which i will look into at a later date.
It is doing about 100w+ on the other bands & is bang on frequency, best is it has the optional 600Hz CW filter fitted & the seller threw me these extra bits in for free

Nice find Sean. I have a pair of these relays left over from when I had a setup for satellite working. Used them to switch masthead preamp and a sequencer. Top quality relays.Crusader wrote: ↑19 Mar 2018, 22:29 Be Jesus!! just seen what those Totsu CX-600N Coaxial Relays cost

Also like the FT707. Built like tanks. Overload easily but good old workhorse!

I'm not sure this qualifies as "Ham stuff" but added an Inrico TM-7 to the shack this week. I love it it's great fun with loads of activity on IRN and Echolink!

I acquired this today,a Yaesu FL-2100B,a very good friend of mine bought it for me for £22 from a sale & fetched it around to my QTH,turns out it is fully working & i had to forcibly shove £50 in his hand for it even though i told him what it was worth.

Big Racal RA17L receiver, this is it filling the back of my wife's 4x4, it's massive! Seems to work ok. This is not a keeper though, it came with a joblot from a silent key.
