The Software/programming cable cost me £2.09 delivered, which I think has just arrived, though I need to open the mail to see...

So all-in, about £40 the lot! :-D
I got a pair of BF-888s about a year ago. Think I paid around £20 for them delivered from a UK seller. I programmed them with the standard 446 channels and then a few 70cm repeater & simplex channels.

They work! :)

WW2 BC-348-L HF receiver from 1942,would of been used on US bombers such as the B-29 Superfortress which dropped the first atomic bomb on Horishima.

It has obviously been modified over the years & has had a psu fitted so that it now runs off 240v,but is in perfect working order & sounds great listening to SSB :) .

It even has the rare anti vibration stand that are very seldom seen, last one of these stands fetched £200 on ebay.

The radio stands me at nowt as i acquired it with a job lot of vintage gear from a silent key G3,anyway it now has pride of place in my radio room :D

Not today, but last week I purchased a 10' pole and new wall mount to be replaced yet again in a few weeks with a 20' pole as I need my Watson W-30 just above the peek of the roof and I am in a first floor flat that has 3 floors. the 10' pole I have now is mounted at my wall height on a Gable end type of thing but it is still not even above gutter level but is curently around 40' from the ground level to tip of antenna. The ground to roof peak is around 58' I curently have my mount about 30' above ground and with the 10' pole thats a total of 40' I still need at least another 18' to get the antenna above roof peak. So all in all from my wall mount my pole needs to be at least 28' in length but I am buying another 20' pole to go on top of my 10' pole so I will have a total pole height of 30' so alltogether when finished from floor to tip of antenna should be around 60' +. Had I had some larger ladders I would have screwed my mount to the eves of the Gable end type thing and had a 20' pole on top of that.

Nice, I was going to get one of these as my 'shack in a box' as the /P feature appealed at the time, but along came an Icom 706Mk2G for a steal and that was that.

I think the long wire will tune so long as it's in the general ballpark for impedance, somewhere between 20Ω and 120Ω should be fine, so maybe stick a BALUN on the wire?

A couple of digital handies. Yaesu FT1-XDE Fusion (C4FM) and a Retevis RT-82 DMR handie. Both are dual band so 136-174 & 400-470Mhz or thereabouts.
