Baofeng UV B5 - CTCSS scan?

Post by MolarBear »

Hi, just wondering if anyone has a Baofeng UVB5 and if they know how to scan for DCS/CTCSS codes when receiving a transmission? I know that the UV 5R can do this and it looks like the UV 82 can, but wasn't sure about the B5. Thanks so much in advance!

TBH you don't need CTCSS codes to receive, if you have none set then you will hear all transmissions on the frequency. It's only any real use if you wish to pick one out of several stations or you want to talk back to them. I wouldn't bother just for listerning 'cuz it makes no difference whatsoever, set for no tones and you're good to go.

Maybe he wants the PMR community repeater tones so he can pirate it when everyone's gone to bed?
