Hi, I'm thinking of using a roof rail mount for vhf/uhf, (Diamond mount)
Vehicle is a Freelander with standard roof rail / bars.
Has anyone had any experience of using these mounts and any advice regarding earth connections?
(mainly use would be vhf but may try hf mobile later)
I usually use a magmount but want to use a bigger antenna on a better mount.
Thanks,

Re: Roof Rail antenna mounts?
Worked fine on my jeep cherokee. Never bothered to earth it either, that was for vhf. For hf I used my magmount when parked up. Just try it and see. Good luck.

Hi i used the mount on a freelander and was good for vhf/uhf. For hf I fed a earth lead from the mount and to the bolt that held the roof bar to the body. Worked well and easily done.

I use a similar one on the roof rail of my fourbie. I use a fat earth cable that terminates at one of the roof rail mounting bolts.
