What is the screw at the bottom of the aerial for, at the bottom of the bottom pole. thanks.

From the picture online and if it's the screw that I think you are talking about I would think it's just part off the design.. a securing screw.

This is what I use https://www.gwhip.co.uk/421-triband-antenna it does 40 20 & 10 without a tuner and is only about 36 foot long so will work in a pretty small garden, mine is sloping from the eaves and is tied off to a tree, works very well indeed.

What ever you say Chris, if you have limited space this is a pretty good option, I never suggested it could match the likes of a Yagi and with HF conditions so poor at the moment the chances of VK ect are pretty slim. The opp has a 10 watt limit so with current conditions VK would be a bit of a stretch. It was just my suggestion I look forward to seeing yours which seems to be missing from your sarcastic but all too familiar reply.

MyAntennas EFHW 1080 http://myantennas.com/wp/product/efhw-8010/ is supposed to be the bee's knees in endfedz and can be mounted in just about any configuration you can think of from inverted V, L to zigzag with no performance losses.
If you're in the UK though I would just copy it homebrew for a lot less dosh due to it being american based by the time you paid import duty it would have cost you over £200. Plenty of videos on them and info around to make one.

44 foot doublet - in an inverted v with about the last 6 feet drooping down - fits into 30 foot of space in my garden. Fed with 300ohm twin lead into an ATU - tunes 40-10 and even 80!
