I got an ancient "Standard C78" UHF transceiver (1w) from the redo rose rally today.

Along with many rolls of gaffa tape, brackets etc.

It may be old but I recon if it actually works, it may just be a piece of history lol

Been after one of these for some time now and grabbed myself a good deal at my local emporium yesterday.
This is the original TS-590S, not the current SG version although it's half the cost so reckon I did well. :D

I'll probably have to sell my FT-450D to offset some of the cost but I think it's worth it.

I know a few Amateurs with 590s and they swear by them, especially the receive side.
Been listening mostly on 15m today and so far, I'm liking it.

TS590 is a great rig only downside is the alc/power overshoot if using an amp or want to be qrp.

i had one a year and had it sit side with various rigs k3 756pro3 tentec and the 590 held its own

I was aware of the ALC overshoot but it doesn't impact me as I don't run it with any amplifiers.
I've updated the firmware in mine to the latest version and two weeks in, I am very pleased with the perfromance.

Nice! Had one a number of years ago and it certainly worked. The memory function is particularly useful. Just make sure there are no rattles inside the box. MFJ build quality is not the greatest out there!

No rattles and seems to work good so far.
Watched a couple of Youtube vids on it to get started.
Also came with a manual ,so that will be my bedtime reading later.
I thought this radio cabinet would stop me buying because of limited space, still 4ft to go until i touch the roof

My radio gear has now edged over onto another desk. I keep on building the shelves up the way too but it doesn't seem to stop them going side ways too.

I've no idea why that is!
